Entry Form and Details

Both professional and amateur chefs welcome!

Chili Fest Contact: reginajoycates@gmail.com

Entry: To register please fill out the Entry Form on the bottom of this page. Note this year, to make entry more accessable to home chefs we are offering a “crock pot” amateur devision for 2+ gallons of chili. However, we encourage folks to do 5+ gallons and go pro, as the more people we feed the more we raise for charity. Entry form must be submitted no later than October 15th (reach out if you miss the deadline). There is no entry fee, you are helping our cause by bringing your chili. Do spread the word and let all you know come enjoy the day!

Check In/Set Up & Breakdown: Check in and set up opens at 11:00am. All chili must be ready to serve at 12:00 noon. Breakdown after announcing winners ~4:00pm. We will have the event rain or shine, details below on rain accommodations.

We Will Provide:

  • Electricity if needed (please bring your own extension cord)

  • Food prep/serving gloves

  • Assigned 10x10 work space for your team

  • Bowls and spoons for tasting

  • Fire extinguishers for safety (but we encourage you to bring your own)

  • Hardware for the winning teams!

What you need to do:

  • Spread the word on your participation to help a great cause!

  • We are opening up smaller batches for home cooks to be more inclusive. Ideally prepare a minimum of 5 gallons of chili, preferably 7 as you’ll be serving hundreds of 1-2oz tastings. If 5 gallons is intimidating let us know if you’d like to do a smaller batch.

  • Chili can be pre made and reheated at the event. Take care in preparing with washed and sanitary ingredients and store properly before arriving.

  • Have a way to store chili at 41F or lower temp before heating up. Bring a cooler!

  • Have a way to keep your chili at 140 degrees or above for the entire event (in a crock pot or simmering on a portable gas range, please bring your own extension cord)

  • List all basic ingredients and note any potential food allergy or dietary restriction ingredients.

  • Have a table to serve from, display your signage, decorations, and chili name. Bring your creativity!

  • Bring a ladle for serving

  • Be responsible for breakdown and clean up of team space

  • We STRONGLY suggest a pop up 10x10 tent or some sort of cover for shade. If there is rain we will provide a large tent for all contestants to work under.

  • Judges will score chilis based on 6 criteria: Aroma, Texture, Color, Taste, Aftertaste/Bite, and The “IT” Factor.

Trophies

  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd Judges Vote

  • Frank’s Finest - People’s Choice Award
